02. The Advent Series 2 // Receiving God - Stephen Dawson // John 1:10-13

The Creator of the World has stepped into His creation. As dramatic as that is, the twist is that He was rejected by those for whom He came.

In the natural, we cannot receive Christ, this Joy, who is the Gift of Christmas. And yet through faith, we can receive Him, and as we do so, also receive the Father and adoption as children of God.

////
Receiving is a Christmas theme!

Didn’t receive Jesus - why? Pride.

All who received him - not a subgroup of people.

Believing in Him means to not believe/trust other things.

The best gifts are shared. How can we share Jesus with others?
//
The claims of Jesus - He gave the right to become children of God - wow! Who is He? He is God. The exclusivity of this. Who is he to you?

Lots of people thought they knew Jesus, but they really didn’t. What about us? Do we really know him? Expect him to be meek and mild, non-confrontational Jesus doesn’t exist.
