01. The Tabernacle // Matt Simmonds // Exodus 25:1-9
In this message from Exodus 25, Matt explores a question many of us feel deeply: what are we actually longing for? Looking at God’s instruction to build the tabernacle — “that I may dwell in their midst” — he shows that the story of Exodus is not just about being rescued from slavery, but about being brought into God’s presence. We are people shaped more by desire than logic, constantly chasing meaning, home, purpose, and intimacy, but those longings ultimately point to a deeper hunger for God himself. The tabernacle, and later the temple, were signs of God’s desire to dwell with His people — a reflection of Eden and a promise of restoration. Matt shows how all of this is fulfilled in Jesus, the true temple, where heaven meets earth, and where our deepest desires finally meet God’s desire to be with us.
